Garmin's eTrex Summit has a rugged mobile phone style case making it light and easy to carry, fitting comfortably into the hand. The Garmin eTrex Summit is fully waterproof and suitable for use in extreme weather conditions in both land and marine environments.

More than just a simple location device, as the name implies, the eTrex Summit is intended for long distance walkers in hilly or mountainous terraine. It incorporates an electronic compass to aid navigation, together with an in-built barometric altimeter. This provides continuous information on your elevation, plotting an interactive graph of your climb and descent.

The altimeter also allows the unit to display your total ascent and descent, which you may find useful for justifying a well earned rest! Average ascent and descent, together with maximum and minimum elevation are also provided.

Figures showng your current and average speed, baring to a waypoint and estimate your time of arrival at it are also available.
The Garmin eTrex Summit is able to store up to 20 reversible routes, making it an excellent companion for long distance walkers. These can be transferred to and from your computer using a PC link cable available seperately.
